The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Indian Energy has extended the deadline to apply for a $25 million funding opportunity that aims to support Tribal energy planning and development. Biomass power and thermal projects are among those eligible for the funding.The funding opportunity is open to Indian Tribes, including Alaska Native Regional Corporations and Village Corporations, Intertribal Organizations, and Tribal Energy Development Organizations.&nbsp;The DOE is offering funding to support energy planning activities; projects to assess the feasibility and viability of deploying energy technologies; and projects focused on &nbsp;energy design and development activities.&nbsp;Biomass power projects, including those utilizing waste-to-energy technologies, and biomass-fueled heating and cooling project are among those eligible for the funding opportunity. Other eligible technologies include wind power, hydropower, solar-thermal and other renewable energy hybrid systems.&nbsp;The DOE expects to make approximately 20-40 awards under the funding opportunity, with values ranging from $100,000 to $2.5 million.The funding opportunity announcement (FOA) was initially issued in September 2024.
