Renewables are currently expected to account for more than 26% of U.S. electricity generation in 2026, expanding to 28% in 2027, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Jan. 13.
The U.S. House of Representatives on Jan. 8 voted 397 to 28 in favor of an appropriations package that includes language on biomass energy and sustainability. Reports accompanying the legislation include guidance on SREs and SAF.
