The U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 1 released updated State Energy Data System estimates, reporting that the U.S. consumed nearly 2.31 quadrillion Btu of wood and biomass waste in 2024.

Repsol on May 26 announced the launch of its second 100% renewable fuel plant on the Iberian Peninsula, located at its Puertollano industrial complex. The facility has the capacity to produce 200,000 tons per year.
Acelen Renewables on May 21 announced it has secured $1.5 billion to develop a biorefinery in Brazil that will have the capacity to produce 1 billion liters (264.17 million gallons) of SAF renewable diesel. Operations are expected to begin in 2029.
