The Wildfire Reduction Market Expansion Act of 2026 was introduced in both the House and the Senate on July 22. The bill aims to expand the RFS’s definition of renewable biomass to include additional low value woody materials.
The U.K. government on July 23 announced plans to broaden eligibility criteria for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) financing and released updated statistics on the volume of fuel used to meet the country’s SAF mandate last year.
The DOE on July 22 announced it has selected 278 projects to move forward with award negotiations under the Genesis Mission request for applications released in March. Several bioenergy-related projects are among those selected by the agency.
Japan-based Renova Inc. on July 21 announced operations have been temporarily suspended at its 74.8-megawatt (MW) Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant for repair work. The facility is expected to resume operations soon.
Ag-Grid Energy LLC has acquired the Waunakee, Wisconsin, anaerobic digester facility, a pioneering renewable energy and nutrient management project developed 15 years ago. The facility has been renamed Demeter Ag-Grid.
