The U.S. EPA has posted the draft agenda for its April 7 workshop on the role of biomass in the Clean Power Plan. The free event is scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., and will be broadcast live via webcast.
Brian Southwell, a senior research analyst with RTI International, is scheduled to give the opening remarks. The first hour-long session on biomass resources and trends is expected to include presentations from Justin Baker, a senior economist with RTI International, and Seth Walker, associate bioenergy economist with RISI.
A second panel, focused on approaches to carbon-beneficial biomass resources, is scheduled to include presentations by James Frederick, a professor with Clemson University; Nancy Heimann, CEO of Enginuity Worldwide; and Greg Latta, an assistant professor at the University of Idaho.
According to the draft agenda, the third panel is expected to focus on state practices and perspectives and will include presentations by Anna Dirkswager of Clean Energy Economy Minnesota. Joe Fontaine, RGGI program manager at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services; and Claire Jahns, assistant secretary of natural resources climate issues at the California Natural Resources Agency have also been invited to present.
The final panel, also focused on state practices and perspectives, is scheduled to include presentations by Marcus Kauffmann, biomass resource specialist at the Oregon Department of Forestry, and Henry Porter, director of South Carolina Department of Environmental Control, Emissions, Evaluation and Support Division.
