The U.S. EPA on July 16 released updated Renewable Fuel Standard data, reporting that two new small refinery exemption (SRE) petitions were filed under the program during the past month. A total of 42 SRE petitions are currently pending.
Hawaii Gov. Josh Green on July 14 signed legislation to create a clean fuel standard (CFS) that aims to reduce the carbon intensity (CI) of transportation fuels by at least 50% below 2019 levels by 2045. Hawaii is the fifth state to implement a CFS.
The USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded $5.6 million to support 11 projects that focus on converting, treating, processing, refining or manufacturing products to utilize plant, animal and woody biomass.
The American Soybean Association is urging the U.S. EPA to update its lifecycle analysis for soybean oil used to produce renewable diesel, arguing that current methodologies treat soybean oil differently than comparable feedstocks.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels and Feedstocks Office on July 14 announced its intent to open a $58 million funding opportunity to support the production of chemicals from alternative and waste feedstocks.
