More than 1.93 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in April, up 3% when compared to the same month of last year, according to data released by the U.S. EPA on May 21. Total RIN generation for the first four months of 2026 reached 7.51 billion.
The U.S. EPA on May 21 published data showing three new small refinery exemption (SRE) petitions have been filed under the Renewable Fuel Standard during the past month. A total of 40 SRE petitions are currently pending.
The Netherlands imported $535 million of U.S. biofuels last year. Regulatory changes that came into force on Jan. 1, 2026, could create boost demand for both U.S. biofuels and feedstocks, according to a report filed with the USDA.
U.S. manufacturers produced approximately 900,000 tons of densified biomass fuel in January, according to the U.S. EIA’s Monthly Densified Biomass Fuels Report. Sales of densified biomass fuel reached 990,000 tons during the month.
