Pengerang Biorefinery&nbsp;Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture between PETRONAS,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.enilive.it/">Enilive</a>&nbsp;S.p.A and Euglena Co., Ltd, marked a key milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for the development of the new biorefinery in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.The biorefinery&nbsp;will&nbsp;have the processing capacity of up to 650,000 metric tons of renewable feedstock annually and is projected to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), and bio-naphtha. Feedstocks for the biorefinery will include wastes such as used vegetable oils and animal fats, and residues from the processing of vegetable oils. The new facility is targeted to commence operations by the second half of 2028 in line with the schedule.Pengerang Biorefinery is a demonstration of a shared commitment by PETRONAS, Enilive and Euglena to meet the growing needs for more competitive and accessible cleaner energy solutions.PETRONAS Executive Vice President and CEO of Downstream Datuk Sazali Hamzah said, “The groundbreaking of the Pengerang Biorefinery reflects the collective efforts to drive decarbonisation and advance energy transition in the region.
