The U.S. exported 626,471.8 tons of wood pellets in September, according to data published by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Nov. 5. Exports were down when compared to the 738,300.5 tons of wood pellets exported in August, but up from the 592,795.4 tons of wood pellets exported during September 2018.
The U.S. exported wood pellets to more than a dozen countries during September. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellets during the month, at 570,038.2 tons, followed by Denmark at 28,514.4 tons and Italy at 12,835.1 tons.
The value of wood pellets reached $88.479 million in September, down from $97.37 million in August, but up from $77.32 million in September 2018.
For the first nine months of the year, the U.S. exported 5.02 million tons of wood pellets at a value of $684.68 million, compared to 4.23 million tons at a value of $567.82 million during the same period of 2018.
