The U.S. exported 894,320.3 metric tons of wood pellets in August, down from 979,282.7 metric tons in July, but up from 775,860.8 metric tons in August 2024, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Aug. 19.&nbsp;The U.S. exported wood pellets to approximately 15 countries in August. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellet exports at 617,754.1 metric tons, followed by Japan at 96,618 metric tons and the Netherlands at 65,186 metric tons.The value of U.S. wood pellet exports reached $174.89 million in August, down from $183.42 metric tons the previous month, but up from $136.61 million metric tons in August of last year.&nbsp;Total wood pellet exports for the first nine months of 2025 reached 6.72 million metric tons at a value of $1.29 billion, compared to 6.47 million metric tons exported during the same period of 2024 at a value of $1.2 billion.Additional data is available on the USDA FAS&nbsp;<a href="https://apps.fas.usda.gov/Gats/default.aspx">website</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Pellet Fuel Institute's standards program will use third-party verification to certify eight fuel parameters.
