CHAR Technologies Ltd. on Aug. 17 reported results to date from independent testing of its HTP platform applied to PFAS-contaminated wastewater biosolids, the dried residual solids produced when a treatment plant processes municipal sewage.
The recent announcement by Finch Paper that it will close its pulp mill in Glens Falls, New York, underscores the urgent need for alternative solutions capable of utilizing low-grade wood and forestry waste across Vermont and the Northeastern U.S.
The U.S. Forest Service on Aug. 5 warded $105.5 million in wood innovation grants to 177 projects across the nation. Funded projects include those focused on biochar, bioenergy and wood pellet production.
Renewables are expected to account for 26% of U.S. electricity generation in 2026, increasing to nearly 28% in 2027, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Aug. 11.
