RSB EU RED re-recognized by the European Commission
The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials is pleased to announce its re-recognition by the European Commission. The decision was published by the commission on Aug. 9 in the Official Journal of the European Union and is valid for five years after the date it entered into force.
The EU Commission recognizes the 'Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials EU RED' for demonstrating compliance with the sustainability criteria under Directives 98/70/EC and 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
In order to receive public support or count towards mandatory national renewable energy targets, biofuels and bioliquids used in the EU must comply with EU`s sustainability criteria. Being certified under RSB EU RED is one way for companies to demonstrate that their biofuels comply with these sustainability criteria.
RSB is committed to maintaining the most credible and comprehensive standards for the global sustainable production, conversion and use of biomass. RSB's upcoming Assembly of Delegates meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam (Nov. 8-9) will again bring together members, certified operators, global brands and NGO's to discuss, debate and continue RSB's leadership in sustainability. This year's program will include a workshop hosted by WWF and RSB with a focus on sustainability in the Aviation sector. Please click here for further information on the event.
