EPA: 33.07 million cellulosic RINs generated in October
The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for October, reporting that 1.72 billion RINs were generated during the month, including nearly 33.07 million cellulosic RINs.
Nearly 33.07 million D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in December, including 25.71 million generated for compressed renewable natural gas (RNG) by domestic producers, 4.27 million generated for liquefied RNG by domestic producers, 1.73 million generated for liquefied RNG by importers, 1.01 million generated for compressed RNG by importers, and 348,381 generated for cellulosic ethanol by domestic producers.
The 25.71 million D3 RINs generated in October brings total D3 RIN generation for the first 10 months of the year to more than 310.61 million. That volume includes 237.6 million generated for compressed RNG by domestic producers, 37.18 million generated for liquefied RNG by domestic producers, 18.28 million generated for liquefied RNG by importers, 8.13 million generated for compressed RNG by importers, 5.15 million generated for cellulosic ethanol by domestic producers and 4.26 million generated for cellulosic ethanol by importers.
No D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in October. However, nearly 1.32 million D7 RINs were generated during the first 10 months of 2019, all for cellulosic heating oil by importers.
More than 58.29 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in October, including 50.07 million generated for ethanol by importers, 3.3 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 3 million generated for naphtha by domestic producers, 1.71 million generated for ethanol by domestic producers, and 215,335 generated for renewable heating oil by domestic producers.
Total D5 RIN generation for the first 10 months of the year reached 262.32 million. That volume includes 158.61 million D5 RINs generated for ethanol by importers, 49.03 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 28.85 million generated for naphtha by domestic producers, 20.05 million generated for ethanol by domestic producers, 3.11 million generated for LPG by domestic producers, 2.6 million generated for renewable heating oil by domestic producers, and 67,289 generated for compressed RNG by domestic producers.
Nearly 1.26 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in October, including 1.24 billion generated for ethanol by domestic producers, 18.28 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, and 1.2 million generated for ethanol by importers.
The 1.26 billion D6 RINs generated in October brings total D6 RIN generation for the first 10 months of 2019 to more than 12.1 billion. That volume includes 12.23 billion generated for ethanol by domestic producers, 158.87 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 11.32 million generated for ethanol by importers and 16,767 generated for biodiesel by domestic producers.
More than 374.86 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in October, including 219.72 million generated for biodiesel by domestic producers, 79.21 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 56.19 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 19.39 million generated for biodiesel by importers, and 346,430 generated for renewable jet fuel by domestic producers.
Total D4 RIN generation for the first 10 months of the year reached 3.45 billion. That volume includes 2.18 billion generated for biodiesel by domestic producers, 625.4 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by domestic producers, 423.53 million generated for nonester renewable diesel by foreign entities, 213.94 million generated for biodiesel by importers, 3.52 million generated for renewable jet fuel by domestic producer and 7,704 generated for renewable heating oil by domestic producers.
According to the EPA, total RIN generation for the first 10 months of 2019 reached 16.42 billion compared to 16.12 billion during the same period of 2018.
