BTEC webinar to discuss advanced biomass thermal technologies

By Anna Austin | December 06, 2011

Though biomass heating systems are one of the oldest energy systems in use today, technology has advanced over the years to optimize efficiency, convenience and safety.

During a Dec. 14 webinar hosted by the Biomass Thermal Energy Council, leaders in the industry will discuss their advanced technologies and what they visualize for the future of biomass thermal technology. Presenters will provide an overview of system improvements designed to meet evolving customer needs and local standards, and also provide participants an opportunity to learn about state and federal policy options and other avenues to expand the biomass industry.

Specific topics will include the most user-friendly residential heating technology; advanced processes in torrefied fuel production; large-scale commercial design using different feedstocks; and how these advanced technologies will promote the biomass thermal industry.

Presenters are Tom Miles, consultant at T.R. Miles Technical Consultants Inc., and David Frank, co-founder of Sunwood Biomass. A third presenter will soon be announced.

This marks the 13th webinar in a 14-part series hosted by BTEC and funded in part by the U.S. Forest Service's Wood Education and Resource Center.

The free webinar will be held at 1 p.m. ET, and participants must register in advance. To register, visit
