Canadian biomass fuel testing center opens The University of New Brunswick has opened the Canadian BioEnergy Centre, which will provide assistance to the bioenergy industry across Canada. The facility's lab has machines and equipment that allow it to directly assist the solid fuel industry. READ MORE SHARE
N-Viro develops mobile fuel-producing facility N-Viro International Corp. is developing its first full-scale facility that will produce its patented N-Viro fuel from wastewater residuals. The mobile unit will begin operation in Pennsylvania, but the company expects to move it around the country. READ MORE SHARE
	Grant helps Alabama university aid state biomass program The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs has provided a $56,000 grant to the University of Alabama in Huntsville so that it can continue to assist ADECA in implementing its Biomass Energy Program. READ MORE SHARE
UBC receives $11.2 million for CHP project Freshly armed with another round of federal and provincial government funding, the University of British Columbia's combined-heat-and-power system is on track to be operational in 2012 after receiving $11.2 million toward the $27 million project. Nexterra closes on $15 million in financing Nexterra Systems Corp. announced March 2 that it has secured $15 million in equity financing from Tandem Expansion Fund and ARC Financial. Biomass fuel solution to high heating oil prices According to EIA estimates, prices for U.S. home heating oil rose 24 percent in February 2011, compared to February 2010, prompting NEBTWG members to urge homeowners, business owners and policy makers to consider renewable heating options.
