EPA considers reductions to 2018, 2019 RVOs The U.S. EPA has published a NODA concerning potential reductions in RVOs for 2018 and 2019 under the RFS. The reductions primarily concern RVOs for biomass-based diesel, but could result in corresponding reductions in advanced and total biofuels. READ MORE SHARE
P&G, Constellation complete 50 MW biomass CHP plant The Procter & Gamble Co. and Constellation, a subsidiary of Exelon Corp. recently announced the completion of a 50-MW biomass-fueled combined-heat-and-power (CHP) plant located at one of P&G’s largest U.S. facilities. READ MORE SHARE

Grassley floor speech criticizes EPA proposal to reduce RFS RVOs On Sept. 26, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, delivered a floor speech to the U.S. Senate expressing his disappointment in action taken by the U.S. EPA that could reduce 2018 and 2019 renewable volume requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard. Ontario biogas projects earn FIT contracts Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator recently announced it will offer contracts for 390 projects representing approximately 150 MW of small-scale renewable generation, including eight biogas projects. READ MORE SHARE
DOE funds project to improve algal biomass yield The U.S. Department of Energy has announced the selection of one additional project, for up to $3.5 million, as part of the Bioenergy Technologies Office’s Advanced Algal Systems Program funding opportunity announcement. READ MORE SHARE
WE&RF awards research contract to support co-digestion The Water Environment & Reuse Foundation has awarded a contract to the Environmental Law Institute to support a project that aims to develop alternative sustainable business cases for wastewater resource recovery facilities to co-digest food waste.
