USIPA, REA criticize Ember report on carbon neutrality of biomass U.K.-based climate think-tank Ember released a report in June that claims the U.K. should abandon the carbon tax break afforded to large biomass power plants. Report: Investment in biomass, waste-to-energy up 9% last year A report released by the UN Environment Programme, the Frankfurt School-UNEP Collaborating Centre, and BloombergNEF on June 10 shows biomass and waste-to-energy received $123 billion in financing for new projects between 2010 and 2019. 	Velocys wins additional funding for UK sustainable jet fuel plant U.K.-based Velocys plc announced on June 12 the company has secured an additional £500,000 in grant funding from the U.K. government in support of its proposed Altalto Immingham waste-to-fuels plant that will produce sustainable aviation fuel. Dane County RNG station receives biogas shipment from Brightmark The first-of-its-kind in the nation RNG offloading station at Dane County, Wisconsin’s landfill on June 11 received its first load of RNG from a manure digester in the Yahara Lakes Watershed developed by Brightmark. READ MORE SHARE

EIA: Densified biomass fuel sales reach 680,000 tons in February The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently released data showing U.S. manufacturers produced approximately 700,000 tons of densified biomass fuel in February, with sales reaching 680,000 tons. READ MORE SHARE
Nextfor launches effort to commercialize lignin technologies Ontario-based Nextfor, a program of the Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy, has launched a $1 million challenge that aims to commercialize the transformation of lignin into chemicals and materials for value-added applications. EPA urged to address treatment of biogenic emissions from crops The Biogenic CO2 Coalition sent a letter to U.S. EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler on June 9 urging the agency to seek public comments on the regulatory treatment of biogenic CO2 from annual agriculture crops. READ MORE SHARE
EPA finds Drylet’s biocatalyst has no impact on RIN designation The U.S. EPA has determined that Drylet’s renewable natural gas (RNG) boosting biocatalyst, Bio React AD, has no impact on biofuel pathways approved under the Renewable Fuel Standards federal program, Drylet announced on June 8.
