Senate confirms Vilsack as ag secretary


Tom Vilsack is once again leading the USDA. The Senate on Feb. 23 voted 92 to seven to confirm him as secretary of agriculture. Vilsack, a former two-term governor of Iowa, served as ag secretary during all eight years of the Obama administration.

Calumet to produce renewable diesel at Montana refinery


Calumet Specialty Products Partners L.P. on Feb. 16 announced plans to produce renewable diesel at its petroleum refinery in Great Falls, Montana. The company is expected to discuss the project during its fourth quarter earnings call on March 3.

Greenlane Renewables signs $3.6 million in new contracts

EPA: 1 new SRE petition filed, 66 SRE petitions now pending


The U.S. EPA released updated SRE data on Feb. 18, reporting that one new SRE petition has been filed for RFS compliance year 2020. A total of 66 SRE petitions are now pending, up from 65 that were pending as of Jan. 19.

Agreement signed for Illinois RNG project


On Feb. 10, Will County, Illinois, officials and its construction trade partners signed a project labor agreement (PLA) for the $45 million renewable natural gas (RNG) plant approved for construction at the county-owned Prairie View landfill.
