EIA: US biofuel capacity up in September, feedstock use down Operable biofuels production capacity in the U.S. expanded by 32 MMgy in September to 20.766 billion gallons per year, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Nov. 30. 	Airbus: In-flight 100% SAF emissions study shows early promise Initial findings from a world-first study of the impact of 100 percent SAF on both engines of a commercial jet have provided promising early results. TotalEnergies, Clean Energy begin construction of biogas unit Through their joint venture, TotalEnergies and its U.S. partner Clean Energy are launching the construction of their first biomethane production unit, in Friona, Texas. The biomethane will be used as an alternative fuel for transportation. READ MORE SHARE
REEEAC schedules meeting for Dec. 9 The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration has announced the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Dec. 9. The event is open to the public, but registeration is required. READ MORE SHARE
DOE releases summary report on algae crop protection workshop The U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technology Office (BETO) held a virtual workshop on algae production in April 2021 titled “Barriers to Scale: Algae Crop Production.” A summary of that workshop is now available. READ MORE SHARE
UK REA names new chair of Wood Heat Forum The U.K. Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology has announced Terence McCracken as the new chair of its Wood Heat Forum. USDA makes air travel more sustainable with soy-fuel innovations Scientists with USDA Agricultural Research Service in Peoria, Illinois, have developed a way to make a better jet biofuel from soybean oil. Blends using biofuels are one of the ways the aviation industry is working to reduce its carbon footprint. READ MORE SHARE
Southwest Gas to provide RTC with RNG supplied by US Gain The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has approved an agreement allowing Southwest Gas to provide Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada with RNG to fuel most of the agency's public transit fleet. Camelina storage, rail loading facility planned for Montana Sustainable Oils Inc. has purchased 45 acres in Havre, Montana. The company is close to selecting its contractor to begin construction of the planned 600,000 bushel storage and rail loading facility for its proprietary camelina grain in Q1 2022. READ MORE SHARE
Shell invests in pyrolysis oil upgrader at Singapore facility Shell has announced it will build a new pyrolysis oil upgrader unit at its facility in Singapore that improves the quality of pyrolysis oil, a liquid made from hard-to-recycle plastic waste that would have gone into a landfill.
