Neste, bp announce separate SAF agreements with DHL Neste and bp on March 21 each announced agreements with DHL Express for the supply of approximately 400 million liters of SAF. Canada seeks public input on possible clean electricity standard Canada is taking action to develop a clean electricity standard (CES). Environment and Climate Change Canada on March 15 opened a public comment period on a CES discussion paper. Bioenergy is among the technologies addressed in the paper. READ MORE SHARE
	EPA: 1.54 billion RINs generated in February The U.S. EPA has released updated renewable identification number (RIN) generation data, reporting that nearly 1.54 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in February, up from 1.26 billion generated during the same month of last year. READ MORE SHARE
UK groups take action against wood products from Russia, Belarus The U.K. Pellet Council and Forest Stewardship Council have announced they will no longer recognize wood products coming from Russia and Belarus, stopping their import for use in bioenergy applications. EPA holds training on updated process to bring biofuels to market The U.S. EPA in holding webinars on March 23 and April 6 related to its January 2022 announcement that the agency is launching a new initiative under the TSCA that aims to streamline the review of new biobased fuels and chemicals. Regan thanks ag community, releases topics for FRRCC evaluation U.S. EPA Administrator Michael Regan issued a statement on Natural Agricutlure Day thanking farmers for their work to produce food, feed, fuel and fiber. DOE offers $34.5M for bioenergy resource recovery, conversion The U.S. Department of Energy has announced a new $34.5 million funding opportunity to improve the current science and infrastructure for converting waste streams into valuable biofuels and bioproducts that can benefit the local energy economy. House bill bans Russian oil, increases access to US biofuels Reps. Angie Craig, D-Minn.; Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa; Cheri Bustos, D-Ill.; and Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, on March 21 introduced the Home Front Energy Independence Act, a bill that aims to expand access to biofuels and ban Russian oil. DOE: In search of a later biomass expiration date A researcher at Idaho National Laboratory is working to develop biomass storage and handling systems that help stabilize biomass by delaying its decomposition and increase its value in downstream conversion by making it easier to break down. EPA: No new SREs filed, 69 SRE petitions still pending The U.S. EPA released updated SRE data on March 17, reporting for the second consecutive month that no new SRE petitions were filed under the RFS. The agency did not act on any of the 69 SRE petitions that have been pending since mid-January. READ MORE SHARE
Delta signs SAF agreement with Gevo Gevo Inc. has signed a take-or-pay agreement with Delta Air Lines Inc. to supply 75 million gallons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) per year for seven years. The new agreement replaces one signed with Delta in 2019. READ MORE SHARE
EPA opens comment period on proposed settlement with Genscape The EPA on March 16 published a notice of proposed settlement agreement that alters the number of RINs that Genscape must retire to comply with a final determination issued by the agency in May 2019 that revoked its registration as a QAP auditor.
