USDA: US pellet exports at 801,397 metric tons in March The U.S. exported 801,396.9 metric tons of wood pellets in March, up from both 628,659.8 metric tons the previous month and 667,309 metric tons in March 2021, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on May 4. Verbio begins RNG production at Iowa facility Verbio AG on May 6 celebrated the opening of its biorefinery in Nevada, Iowa. The facility began producing RNG from corn stover on an industrial scale in late 2021 and will soon begin producing corn ethanol. READ MORE SHARE
	Republic Services, Archaea Energy launch RNG joint venture Republic Services Inc. and Archaea Energy Inc. on May 5 announced a joint venture to develop 39 RNG projects across the U.S. The partnership will convert landfill gas into RNG that can be used for a variety of applications to displace fossil fuels. Report describes changes to Dutch government’s policy on biomass The government of the Netherlands in late April signaled its intent to support the use of biomass for certain high-value applications, including the production of some biofuels and high-temperature heat, but phase out support for lower value uses. Drax to pilot more pioneering new carbon capture technology Renewable energy pioneer Drax has partnered with the University of Nottingham and Promethean Particles to trial a pioneering new bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) process at its North Yorkshire power station. Enviva reports Q1 challenges, accelerates capacity expansions Enviva released Q1 financial results on May 4, reporting that labor, production and logistics challenges negatively impacted operations during quarter. EIA: US biofuels capacity at 21.123 billion gallons in February Total operable biofuels production capacity for ethanol, biodiesel, renewable diesel and related fuels expanded to 21.123 billion gallons per year in February, according to the EIA. Total feedstock consumption was at 24.348 billion pounds. READ MORE SHARE
CVR’s Wynnewood refinery begins renewable diesel production CVR Energy Inc. on May 2 announced it has successfully completed conversion and startup of the renewable diesel unit at its Wynnewood refinery in Oklahoma. The company also said it is continuing to advance its renewables restructuring plan. READ MORE SHARE
REG: Renewable diesel production up in Q1 Renewable Energy Group Inc. produced 99 million gallons of biodiesel and renewable diesel during the first quarter of 2022, flat with the same period of 2021. Biodiesel production was down, but renewable diesel production was up. READ MORE SHARE
United signs SAF agreement with Neste United Airlines has signed a new purchase agreement with Neste that provides United the right to buy up to 52.5 million gallons over the next three years for United flights at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, and potentially other airports as well. READ MORE SHARE
Fayetteville PWC, Bloom Energy transform waste into energy The Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) and Bloom Energy, have announced plans to install and operate 1.5 megawatts of solid oxide fuel cells. The fuel cells will generate power using multiple biogas streams. READ MORE SHARE
FortisBC nearly triples RNG supply FortisBC increased its annual RNG supply by 184 percent in 2021 when compared to the prior year. The company expects to triple its supply by the end of 2022 by having approximately 3.9 petajouls of contracted RNG supply in place. READ MORE SHARE
