Next Renewable Fuels receives milestone air permit approval The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality on Aug. 31 approved the air quality permit for Next Renewable Fuels’ $2 billion clean fuels project. Shell announces partnership to convert ethanol into hydrogen Shell Brazil on Sept. 1 announced it has signed a cooperation agreement with Raízen, Hytron, University of São Paulo and SENAI CETIQT for the construction of two plants to produce renewable hydrogen (H2) from ethanol. READ MORE SHARE
UGI invests in new RNG project in New York UGI Corp. has announced that Cayuga RNG has entered into an agreement to develop its fourth project to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) in upstate New York. The project will be located at Bergen Farms and Glenview Dairy. READ MORE SHARE
Montauk Renewables announces second Apex RNG facility Montauk Renewables Inc. announces the planned construction of a second RNG processing facility at its Apex landfill gas project in Amsterdam, Ohio. The project is expected to boost RNG production by approximately 40 percent. READ MORE SHARE
Biofuel groups comment on Washington’s proposed CFS rule A public comment period on Washington’s proposed Clean Fuel Standard closed Aug. 31. The program aims to incentivize fuel suppliers to reduce the carbon intensity of transportation fuels by 20 percent by 2038. READ MORE SHARE
Clark Energy supplies CHP system to RNG project in Maine Clarke Energy USA Inc., a KOHLER Company, has secured a project to supply Peaks Renewables LLC, a subsidiary of Summit Utilities, Inc., with a new natural gas fired CHP system, as well as a KOHLER back-up gas-fuelled generator. EIA: US biofuel capacity, feedstock consumption up in June U.S. operable biofuel production capacity expanded to 21.58 billion gallons per year in June, up 125 MMgy when compared to May, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Aug. 31. Evonik, Shell reduce heavy-duty transport emissions with bio-LNG Evonik and Shell are working to decarbonize heavy-duty road transport with biobased liquid natural gas (bio-LNG).. Shell is supplying 100 tons of bio-LNG made from agricultural waste to Evonik. The fuel can reduce GHG emissions by 86 percent. READ MORE SHARE
Three Mississippi State-bred switchgrasses hit the market Mississippi State scientists have developed three switchgrass varieties that are ready for commercial use.
