Pellet manufacturer buys Virginia port terminal

Pellet manufacturer Enviva LP will be able to expand its shipping capacity with the acquisition of a port terminal in Chesapeake, Va. The location is suitable for the export of wood pellets and will be the shipment point for its proposed N.C. plant.
Secretary of Energy Steven Chu detailed President Obama's $29.5 billion Fiscal Year 2012 budget request for the U.S. DOE this week. The request is part of an administration-wide plan to win the future by out-innovating the rest of the world.
San Francisco-based advanced biofuel firm Solazyme Inc. and Australian airliner Qantas have launched a collaboration to pursue the potential for commercial production of Solazyme's microbial-derived aviation fuel, Solajet, in Australia.
The USDA has announced interim rule changes to three renewable energy programs authorized by the 2008 Farm Bill, including the Biorefinery Assistance Program, the Repowering Assistance Program and the Bioenergy Program for Advanced Biofuels.
