CVR Energy Inc. on Jan. 26 confirmed the reversion of the renewable diesel unit at its refinery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, back to hydrocarbon processing was completed in December. The reversion reduces U.S. renewable diesel production capacity by approximately 100 MMgy. The facility is expected to retain the ability to produce renewables in the future.&nbsp;CVR Energy in October 2025 <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/cvr-energy-to-cease-renewable-diesel-production-in-q4">announced plans to cease renewable diesel production</a>, citing unfavorable economics in the renewable sector and the opportunity to optimize feedstock and relieve certain logistical constraints within its refining business. At that time, the company said the facility is expected to maintain the option to switch back to renewable diesel service if incentivized to do so.&nbsp;During a third quarter 2025 earnings call, CVR President and CEO David Lamp said the loss of the blenders tax credit and a significant increase in soybean prices this year has weighed on the profitability of the company’s renewables business.&nbsp;He noted the company planned to mothball its feedstock pretreatment unit but would be able to bring it back online in short order should something change in the renewables space.&nbsp;CVR Energy completed conversion of the Wynnewood renewable diesel unit in 2022, bringing an estimated 100 MMgy of renewable diesel and renewable naphtha capacity online. The <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/cvr-energy-begins-operations-of-feedstock-pretreatment-unit-continues-to-consider-saf-projects">feedstock pretreatment unit began operations</a> in 2024. The company was previously considering plans to convert the Wynnewood renewable diesel unit to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and develop additional SAF capacity at its Coffeyville refinery in Kansas.&nbsp;CVR Energy, however<a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/cvr-pauses-development-of-potential-saf-projects-pending-regulatory-tax-credit-clarity">, paused plans for both proposed SAF projects in early 2025</a>, citing a lack of regulatory and tax credit clarity.&nbsp;&nbsp;
