Total operable U.S. biofuels capacity was at 25.297 billion gallons per year in October, unchanged from the previous month and up nearly 2% when compared to October 2024, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Dec. 31.&nbsp;Ethanol capacity remained at 18.33 billion gallons per year in October, unchanged since August. When compared to October 2024, ethanol capacity was up 8 MMgy.&nbsp;Biodiesel capacity was at 1.98 billion gallons in October, unchanged from September but down 17 MMgy when compared to October of the previous year.&nbsp;Capacity for renewable diesel and associated fuels, defined to include renewable heating oil, renewable jet fuel, renewable naphtha, renewable gasoline and other biofuels and biointermediates, was at 4.99 billion gallons in October, unchanged when compared to the two previous months. When compared to October 2024, capacity for renewable diesel and associated fuels was up 409 MMgy.&nbsp;&nbsp;
