Japan-based petroleum company ENEOS Corp. on March 22 announced that a coalition of Japanese and South Korean companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on feedstock for a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project ENOES is developing.The MOU addresses a joint study on feedstock supply, including use cooking oil, tallow, and others, for the SAF plant ENEOS is developing at its Wakayama refinery in Arida, Japan. The MOU also focuses on the development of a feedstock hub for the proposed SAF project. In addition to ENEOS, DS Dansuk Co. Ltd., a bioenergy producer; HMLP Co. Ltd., an import/export company; Nomura Jimusho Inc., a company with expertise in raw material procurement; Yoshikawa Yushi Co. Ltd., a waste oil collation and recycling company; and Sapporo Yushi Co. Ltd., a company that collects and refines waste oil, are participating in the MOU.ENEOS and TotalEnergies in early 2022 <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/totalenergies-eneos-consider-saf-production-at-japanese-refinery-18901">announced</a> a collaboration to jointly conduct a feasibility study to assess the production of SAF at the ENEOS Negishi Refinery in Yokohama City, Japan. Later that year, the two companies <a href="https://www.eneos.co.jp/english/newsrelease/2022/pdf/20221124_01.pdf">announced</a> they would instead pursue a feasibility study to add a SAF production unit to the Wakayama refinery.
