Maine Gov. Janet Mills on July 2 announced the award of a $100,000 grant to the Maine Pellet Fuels Association. The funding will support efforts to expand domestic markets for wood pellet fuel manufactured within the state.&nbsp;The Maine Pellet Fuels Association is one of 46 businesses within the state selected to share in $2.9 million in grant funding awarded under the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan to increase sales of Maine-made products across the U.S.The&nbsp;Domestic Trade Program&nbsp;offers Maine businesses financial and technical support to develop new market opportunities across the country. &nbsp;The program is administered through the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development with support from the Greater Portland Council of Governments, which is providing technical assistance to businesses and organizations with the grant application process, coordinating the review of applications and disbursing grant funds.“The Domestic Trade Program is helping folks across America learn what Maine people have known for years: Maine-made products are the best in the world,”&nbsp;Mills said. “These investments will help Maine producers of everything from soap to surfboards effectively market their products, create jobs, and strengthen the Maine economy.”“The Domestic Trade Program has already generated great results for Maine businesses,”&nbsp;said Heather Johnson, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development. “These 46 companies are well-positioned to leverage their products to markets across the country, and I look forward to watching their continued success.”A full list of awardees is available on Mill’s <a href="https://www.maine.gov/governor/mills/news/governor-mills-announces-nearly-3-million-maine-jobs-recovery-plan-grants-strengthen-sales">website</a>.
