Marathon Petroleum Co. on April 30 confirmed the Martinez Renewable Fuels biorefinery in California is currently operating at 50% capacity, but said the facility is expected to ramp up to 100% capacity by the end of the year.&nbsp;Offcials at Marathon briefly discussed operations at the Martinez biorefinery during the company’s first quarter earnings call, held April 30. The facility, previously a Marathon oil refinery, was converted to a renewable diesel biorefinery via a 50/50 joint venture between Marathon and Neste Corp. that was announced in 2022.&nbsp;The Martinez Renewables facility <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/marathon-starts-up-phase-1-of-martinez-conversion-project-19720">began operations</a> in early 2023. The facility is currently operating at approximately 50% nameplate capacity following a fire that occurred in late 2023. During the April 30 earnings call, Marathon President Maryann Mannen said the company is continuing to work with regulators to along on what repairs are necessary and ensure safe, reliable operations moving forward. She said the facility is expected to continue operating at 50% capacity during the second quarter. Mid-third quarter, operations are expected to ramp up to 75% capacity, with the facility expected to reach full capacity of 48,000b barrels per day by the end of the year.&nbsp;
