Lallemand acquires NABC, forms new business unit

Lallemand Inc. has announced the acquisition of North American Bioproducts Corp. and its ancillary businesses. The acquired companies will be combined with Lallemand's existing business, Lallemand Ethanol Technology, to form a new business unit.
Gussing Renewable Energy GmbH has successfully fueled a micro-combined-heat-and-power (CHP) fuel cell system developed ClearEdge Power with biogas. The system has been running at its full 5 kW capacity since Aug. 20.
In conjunction with the release of a U.S. DOE report on the U.S. combined-heat-and-power (CHP) industry, President Obama has made an Executive Order to facilitate investments in energy efficiency at industrial facilities, focusing on expanding CHP.
Biofuel groups file an intervenors brief in API lawsuit

Seven biofuel organizations filed an intervenors brief on Sept. 4 in the American Petroleum Institute case against the U.S. EPA challenging the 2012 cellulosic and advanced biofuel requirements under the renewable fuel standard (RFS).
A new Wood Pellet Association of Canada report addresses dust management in pellet plants. The report, titled "Determination of Explosibility of Dust Layers in Pellet Manufacturing Plants," was written by WPAC Research Director Staffan Melin.

EIA issues latest monthly ethanol statistics

The U.S. Energy Information Administration published its latest Monthly Energy Review on Aug. 29. The review includes a monthly overview of ethanol statistics. The new report addresses ethanol production, stocks and exports through May 2012.
Bernard Matthews, the U.K.'s largest turkey farmer and supplier, is installing a biogas plant to improve the company's waste handling and energy costs. The project underlines the wide scope of Xergi's biogas technology for handling waste.

The American Coalition for Ethanol is reminding consumers with Labor Day travel plans that the renewable fuel standard (RFS) helps stabilize gas prices, particularly during events like the recent severe weather in the Gulf of Mexico.
Progress Energy Florida has issued a request for proposals for renewable energy projects. According to documentation issued by the company, it is looking to offset the need for new power plants by contracting with renewable projects.
BioNitrogen Corp. recently announced it signed a three-year, non-exclusive agreement with PRM Energy System Inc. for the construction of gasification units for its proposed urea plants. The company also signed feedstock supply and offtake agreements.

With gas prices spiking toward $4 per gallon The oil companies are quick to blame Hurricane Isaac for causing the sudden inflation, but reports show that damage to refineries in the Gulf of Mexico suffered little, if any damage.
