The USDA lowered its forecast for 2020-21 corn use in ethanol in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released on Oct. 10. Forecasts for corn production, feed and residual use, and ending stocks were also lowered.

EIA data shows wood pellet producers successfully managed challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic during the first half of the year.
Red River Biorefinery LLC announced on Oct. 6 that its biorefinery in Grand Forks, North Dakota, is now producing ethanol that meets USP purity and quality standards. The facility began operations earlier this year.
The Renewable Fuels Association has elected Jeanne McCaherty, CEO of Guardian Energy Management LLC, as its new chairperson. McCaherty becomes the first female chairperson in the RFA's history, and first among any national ethanol trade association.
The EIA released its Winter Fuels Outlook and an updated Short-Term Energy Outlook on Oct. 6, reporting that approximately 1.8 million households will use cord wood or wood pellets as their primarily residential spacing heating fuel this winter.
Nacelle Solutions has announced that two new RNG facilities in Wisconsin are complete and operational. The company will own, operate and maintain the RNG processing equipment at the sites under a long-term service contract for U.S. Gain.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration maintained its forecast for 2020 ethanol production in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, which was released on Oct. 6. The forecast for 2021 ethanol production, however, was revised down.
