Drax Group plc on Dec. 11 announced the company has no near-term or medium-term plans to expand wood pellet production capacity. Work on the proposed 450,000-metric-ton-per-year pellet plant in Longview, Washington, will remain paused.
Renewables are expected to account for more than 24% of U.S. electricity generation in 2025, expanding to 26% in 2026, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Dec. 9.
Anaergia Inc., through its subsidiary, Anaergia Technologies LLC, has signed a contract with a subsidiary of Anaergia PepsiCo Mexico Foods deliver an integrated renewable energy solution at a PepsiCo Mexico Foods food production facility in Mexico.
Nopetro Energy, in partnership with Johnson Controls, announced on Dec. 2 a $50 million investment to design, finance, build and operate a landfill gas to renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility in Manatee County, Florida.
Sumitomo Corp. on Nov. 28 announced a new 112 megawatt (MW) biomass power plant has begun commercial operations in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The facility is fueled by wood pellets and wood chips.
