USDA: Wood pellet exports reach 694,515 tons in June

The U.S. exported 694,515.3 tons of wood pellets in June, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Aug. 2. Pellet exports were up when compared to the 553,882.9 tons exported in May and the 535,254.3 tons exported in June 2018.

According to the USDA, the U.S. exported wood pellets to approximately one dozen countries in June. The U.K. was the top destination with 590,735.4 tons, followed by Belgium-Luxembourg with 73,366.2 tons and the French West Indies with 21,299.9 tons.

The value of U.S. wood pellet exports reached $88.14 million in June, up from $86.25 million in May and $69.02 million in June 2018.

Total U.S. pellet exports for the first half of 2019 reached 3.17 million tons, up from 2.69 million tons during the first half of 2018 and 2.39 million tons during the first six months of 2017.

The total value of U.S. wood pellet exports for the first half of 2019 reached $437.49 million, compared to $366.53 million for the same period of 2018 and $318.99 million for the first six months of 2017.
