EPA reviewing comments on proposed E15 label

The U.S. EPA is in the process of reviewing approximately 1,200 comments received in response to its proposed label for E15. A final decision regarding the E15 label should be reached in the next few months, according to the agency.
INEOS Bio receives $75 million USDA loan guarantee

INEOS Bio and its joint venture partner, New Planet Energy, have received a conditional commitment for a $75 million loan guarantee from the USDA's 9003 Biorefinery Assistance Program.
Starting Jan. 1, gas stations in Germany started offering E10, an increase from E5 which has been available since 2007. Although some reports are that the roll out of E10 has been delayed by a month, it's simply coming in slowly.
Qteros, Praj partner on cellulosic process design

Cellulosic ethanol technology developer Qteros Inc. and engineering firm Praj Industries Limited have partnered to develop a process design package for cellulosic ethanol production facilities. Qteros also recently raised $22 million in financing.

Wisconsin Power and Light Co. in Madison was recently granted a Research and Testing Exemption from the state Department of Natural Resources, allowing expansion of its biomass cofiring test burns at the Nelson Dewey Generating Station in Cassville.
Once Louisiana Green Fuels LLC has the needed financing in place it won't take long to get the 25 MMgy ethanol plant up and running. The equipment is on site, the contractors ready to work and the needed permits have been secured.

Specialty paper maker Smart Papers is clear to begin cofiring biomass with coal at its cogeneration plant in Hamilton, Ohio.The facility will begin burning 50 percent biomass, using a cellulosic pellet manufactured by Wisconsin-based Greenwood Fuels.

A donation from Texas entrepreneur Randy Hill and his company, APT Advanced Trailer & Equipment LP, to the University of Idaho has funded research on converting biomass to energy. The gift has allowed the university to install a pyrolysis unit.
Armed with newly-compiled results from a four-month biomass test burn at its CHP plant, Iowa State University officials will discuss the parameters and requirements of permanent biomass utilization with the state Department of Natural Resources.
