Adkins Energy was formed in 2002 to provide value to local corn producers. Although its origin may not sound unique to the ethanol industry, the plant’s 20-plus year run proves otherwise. Ethanol Producer Magazine caught up with the team in late July to talk about about the evolution of Adkins and how the plant has transformed in size, scope and direction. Much has changed at the Lena, Illinois, biorefinery, but as you’ll hear from one of the company’s original employees, its ability to thrive over two decades is not only about what has changed, but what hasn’t.
Iowa, Nebraska sue EPA over failure to act on Midwest E15 petitions

The attorneys general of Iowa and Nebraska on Aug. 7 sued the U.S. EPA over the agency’s failure to respond petitions filed by eight Midwestern governors more than a year ago seeking a solution to year-round E15 sales within their states.
The North Dakota Public Service Commission on Aug. 4 denied a siting permit for Summit Carbon Solutions’ Midwest Carbon Express CO2 Pipeline Project. Summit plans to revisit its proposal and reapply for the permit.
Aemetis Inc. released Q2 financial results on Aug. 3, reporting progress with the development of its dairy RNG project and its proposed renewable diesel and SAF biorefinery. The company also highlighted its existing ethanol and biodiesel operations.
