A central Illinois company proposing to supply miscanthus as a fuel source to a power plant in the state is anxiously waiting to hear whether it has qualified as a Biomass Crop Assistance Program project area.
The city of Edmonton, Alberta, recently opened an Advanced Energy Research Facility located adjacent to trash-to-ethanol producer Enerkem Inc.'s 10 MMgy Enerkem Alberta Biofuels plant, currently under construction.

The U.S. EPA could finalize its E15 labeling rule by June 30, clearing a major hurdle toward the introduction of E15 to the mass transportation fuel market. The OMB concluded its regulatory review of the rule in early June.

A coalition of renewable energy groups have banded together to press the government to pass a clean energy standard.
G20 Agriculture ministers announced June 23 at a G20 meeting in Paris that the group would remain supportive of biofuels policies.

Motiva Enterprises LLC announced they have reached an agreement with Vecenergy to construct a fuel grade ethanol rail offloading facility at the Motiva Port Everglades, Fla., terminal.
A plan to produce more lysine and threonine, both amino acids, at Archer Daniels Midland Co.'s plant in Decatur, Ill., won't mean changes on the ethanol side.
